Starch IP
Abstract
Starch or amylum is a polymeric carbohydrate consisting of a large number of glucose units joined by glycosidic bonds. Pure starch is a white, tasteless and odorless powder that is insoluble in cold water or alcohol. It consists of two types of molecules: the linear and helical amylose and the branched amylopectin. It occurs as white powder, insoluble in water.
Use/Application
As an additive for food processing, food starches are typically used as thickeners and stabilizers in foods such as puddings, custards. In the pharmaceutical industry, starch is also used as an excipient, as tablet disintegrant, and as binder.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing
It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
