Abstract
Sodium Metabisulphite also known as sodium pyrosulphite is an inorganic compound that is used as a disinfectant, antioxidant and preservative agent. It is used as used as a food additive and is known by the E number E223.
Use/Application
Sodium Metabisulphite is used as a preservative and antioxidant in food. It is also used for wine and beer making, in photography, as an excipient in some tablets such as paracetamol, to precipitate from auric acid, in waste treatment, as a bleaching agent in the production of coconut cream and in the oil and gas industry as a corrosion inhibitor or oxygen scavenger.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing
It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
