Abstract
Sodium Citrate also known as trisodium citrate is one of the three sodium salts of citric acid that has a saline, mildly tart flavor. It appears in the anhydrous, dehydrate and pentahydrate forms.

 

Use/Application
Sodium Citrate is used mainly as a food additive and has the E number E331. It is used as a flavoring agent in ice creams, jams, sweets, milk powder, processed cheeses, carbonated beverages and wine. It is also used as a buffering agent and an acidity regulator in gelatin desserts, medically as an anticoagulant and as an osmotic laxative and in boiler descaling.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing

It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
