Lime (Calcium Oxide) USP

Abstract
Calcium Oxide also known as quick lime or burnt lime is a white, caustic, alkaline, crystalline solid is an inexpensive and important commodity chemical. It is usually obtained by the thermal decomposition of limestone or seashells in a lime kiln.

 

Use/Application
Calcium Oxide is used as a source of heat in a food warming, self heating can. It is also used in the manufacture of cement, as an alkali in biodiesel production, in petroleum industry, in paper mills, as a plaster for flooring and in flue gas desulphurization.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing

It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
