Gentian Violet USP
Abstract
Gentian Violet is a blue, aniline-derived dye. Gentian Violet (also known as methyl violet 10B or hexamethyl pararosaniline chloride) is a triarylmethane dye used as a histological stain and in Gram’s method of classifying bacteria.
Uses/Applications
Gentian violet is not used as a textile dye. Instead, it is used to dye paper and as a component of navy blue and black inks for printing, ball-point pens, and ink-jet printers. It is also used to colorize diverse products such as antifreezes, detergents, and leather. Gentian violet has antibacterial, antifungal properties.

Shelf life, Storage and Packing
It should be stored in a segregated area in a cool and ventilated place away from combustible materials. Keep in a tightly closed container, sealed until ready for use. It is packed in 25kg or 50kg HDPE bags or drums as required.
